Structural Engineering

TBA

The heart of structural engineering is our design work that encompasses the drawings, reporting and specification documentation critical to NZBC criteria and in the procurement of construction contracts.

Structural Engineers are responsible for designing the support systems, such as the foundations, columns, beams, slabs, and other load-bearing elements. Architects design the building’s appearance and use of space and the structural engineer’s job is to ensure the building can carry its own weight and is strong and stable enough to withstand all the pressures of the environment. This includes the materials used in construction as well as the types of extra strengthening that may be required to achieve specific aesthetic aspects.

Structural engineering design also identifies and details all of the structural elements and materials to ensure that these items are itemised so that they can be factored into the construction costs as well as providing the construction team with clear plans to build from.
